Early Life and Education
Charles Payson "Chase" Coleman III was born on June 1, 1975, in Glen Head, Long Island. He grew up in a family with a background in law and interior design. Coleman attended Deerfield Academy and later Williams College, where he co-captained the lacrosse team and graduated in 1997.
Rise to Success
Coleman's investment career began in 1997 at Julian Robertson's Tiger Management, where he worked as a technology analyst. In 2000, when Robertson closed Tiger Management, he entrusted Coleman with over $25 million to manage, making him one of the prominent "Tiger Cubs." In 2001, Coleman founded Tiger Global Management. The firm initially focused on public equity investments in technology and consumer sectors, and later expanded into private equity.

Chase Coleman III, along with his wife Stephanie Ercklentz Coleman, established the Chase and Stephanie Coleman Foundation in 2006. The foundation focuses on education, health, children and youth programs, environmental conservation, reproductive health, and poverty alleviation, primarily in the New York City area. In 2023, the foundation's assets were $374 million and granted over $20 million to various organizations.
