Early Life
Charles Bronfman was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on June 27, 1931. He is the son of Samuel Bronfman and Saidye Rosner Bronfman. The family established a large financial empire that grew out of the liquor business started by Yechiel Bronfman. Charles was raised in Montreal and received his education at Selwyn House School, Trinity College School, and McGill University.
Rise to Success
Charles Bronfman joined the Seagram Company Limited in 1951 and later became a director and vice-president in 1958. He and his brother Edgar inherited the Seagram Company Limited in 1971. He was also the principal owner of the Montreal Expos baseball club from 1968 to 1990.
