Early Life
Carlos Alberto Sicupira, often called "Beto," was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on May 1, 1948. He developed an interest in business from a young age. His father worked in the public sector, and he grew up with a desire to be an entrepreneur. At 17, Sicupira started his first brokerage firm, demonstrating early business acumen. He studied management at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
Rise to Success
Sicupira's career took a pivotal turn in 1973 when he met Jorge Paulo Lemann. This meeting led to a partnership at the Garantia brokerage, where Marcel Herrmann Telles also joined. The trio would become partners in numerous business deals. They transformed the Brazilian beermaker AmBev into a global powerhouse. In 2004, they created 3G Capital, an investment firm. Through 3G Capital, Sicupira played a critical role in acquiring and managing major companies such as Anheuser-Busch InBev, Burger King, and Kraft Heinz.
