Brian L. Roberts was born on June 28, 1959, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Ralph J. Roberts, the founder of Comcast Corporation, and Suzanne Fleisher, a former actress and playwright. Roberts graduated from Germantown Academy and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981. He is from a Jewish family.
Rise to Success
Roberts began his career at Comcast after graduating from the Wharton School in 1981. He began as a manager of cable system marketing. In 1987, he was promoted to executive vice president. Roberts assumed the role of President of Comcast in 1990 at the age of 31. Under his leadership, Comcast expanded significantly, including the acquisition of AT&T Broadband in 2000 and NBCUniversal in 2009, making Comcast the largest cable operator globally.
