Early Life and Education
Brian Michael Higgins was born on October 6, 1959, in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Buffalo State College with a B.A. in Political Science in 1984 and an M.A. in History in 1985. Furthering his education, he earned an MPA from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1996.
Rise to Success
Higgins began his career at First Boston in the firm's Merchant Banking and Distressed Securities Groups, subsequently helping to form the First Boston Special Situations Fund. He co-founded King Street Capital Management in 1995 with O. Francis Biondi. Under Higgins's leadership, King Street grew into a leading global alternative asset manager, managing approximately $26 billion in assets as of 2024. His firm specializes in distressed debt and credit strategies.
