Early Life
Bill Malhotra's journey began in Delhi, India, where he completed his early education. He then pursued a degree in civil engineering at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani. At the age of 22, in 1971, he moved to Canada, seeking better opportunities and a chance to build a new life. He arrived in Ottawa with just $8 in his pocket.
Rise to Success
Malhotra's career started at an engineering firm. He later worked for the City of Ottawa as a chief structural engineer from 1977 to 1986. During this time, he gained valuable knowledge about urban planning and the real estate industry. In 1986, he founded Claridge Homes. The company has since built over 14,000 properties, including condos, houses, and retirement residences. One of Claridge Homes' most notable projects is the Claridge Icon, the tallest building in Ottawa.
