Early Life
Ben Silbermann was born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1982. His parents, Jane Wang and Neil Silbermann, are ophthalmologists. In his youth, he attended the Research Science Institute at MIT. Silbermann graduated from Yale University in 2003 with a degree in Political Science.
Rise to Success
Before Pinterest, Silbermann worked at Google in the online advertising group. He then designed iPhone apps, which led him to co-found Pinterest with Evan Sharp and Paul Sciarra in March 2010. The company rapidly gained traction and, in April 2019, had an IPO with a valuation of around $12 billion.
