Early Life and Education
Aziz Akhannouch was born in Tafraout, Morocco, in 1961. He was raised in Casablanca and later pursued a management diploma from the Université de Sherbrooke in Canada, graduating in 1986.
Rise to Success
Akhannouch's business acumen led him to become the CEO of Akwa Group, a conglomerate founded by his father in 1932. Under his leadership, Akwa Group expanded significantly, with interests in petroleum, gas, chemicals, and other sectors. He also served as the President of the Souss-Massa-Drâa regional council from 2003 to 2007.

Akwa Group's success is rooted in strategic diversification and expansion. The company's fuel brand, Afriquia, and gas brand, Afriquia Gaz, are well-known in Morocco. Akhannouch expanded the group's reach into real estate, tourism, and media. He is also the majority owner of the Akwa Group.
