Antti Juhani Herlin was born on November 14, 1956, in Kirkkonummi, Finland. He comes from the Herlin family, who have maintained controlling ownership of KONE Corporation since 1924. The Herlin family transformed KONE from a domestic engineering firm into an international enterprise. Antti is the son of Pekka Herlin, who served as chairman of KONE Corporation until 2003.
Rise to Success
Antti Herlin joined the leadership of KONE Corporation in autumn 1996, when he was appointed as deputy chairman of the board and CEO. He served as CEO from 1996 to 2006. During his tenure as CEO, Herlin expanded operations through acquisitions and alliances. He was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of KONE Corporation in 2003, succeeding his father, Pekka Herlin.
