Early Life
Antônio Luiz da Cunha Seabra was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1942. From a young age, he showed a keen interest in finance and business. At 15, he began working in the industry, which fueled his passion for economics. After high school, he pursued a degree in economics.
Rise to Success
After graduating, Seabra worked for eight years at a computer manufacturing company, eventually reaching the position of superintendent. In 1969, at the age of 27, Seabra, along with Jean Pierre Berjeaout, founded Industria e Comércio de Cosméticos Berjeaout Ltda. This company was later renamed Natura, reflecting the use of natural ingredients in its products. Seabra started selling products door-to-door, providing personalized beauty advice, which helped build strong customer relationships.
Key Business Strategies
Seabra’s business acumen led to Natura’s growth, emphasizing direct sales and innovation. Natura expanded internationally, opening its first boutique in Paris in 2005 and acquiring The Body Shop in 2017. The acquisition of Avon in 2020 further solidified Natura's position as a leading global cosmetics company. Seabra also invested in Bresco, a property rental operation. He is known for quoting poetry and philosophy in business meetings and communicating with employees through motivational videos. Natura's commitment to sustainability, including eco-friendly practices, has been a key part of its success.
