Anna Maria Braun was born on July 3, 1979, in Melsungen, Germany. She is the daughter of Ludwig Georg Braun. She attended the United World College of the Atlantic (UWC) and completed a language course in Chinese. Braun studied law at the University of Freiburg and Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., where she earned a Master of Laws degree.

Braun began her professional journey in 2009 at B. Braun, a family-run medical and pharmaceutical device company. She quickly advanced through the ranks, becoming the head of B. Braun Medical Industries in Malaysia in 2013. In 2016, she joined the executive board and became CEO in April 2019, marking the sixth generation of her family to lead the company.
