Andrew H. Tisch was born on August 14, 1949, in the United States. He is the son of Wilma (Stein) Tisch and Laurence Tisch. His parents were of Jewish descent. Tisch attended Suffield Academy and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 1971. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University in 1977.
Rise to Success
Tisch's career has been closely tied to Loews Corporation, the company founded by his father and uncle. He held positions at Bulova Watch Company, where he served as president from 1979 to 1989. He later became Chairman and CEO of Lorillard Tobacco Company from 1990 to 1995. A significant moment in his career was his 1994 testimony before the US Congress regarding the addictive nature of nicotine, reflecting the tobacco industry's stance at the time.
