Andrei Yuryevich Molchanov was born on September 24, 1971, in Leningrad, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. Not much information is available regarding his childhood. He graduated from Saint Petersburg State University in 1993 with a degree in Economics and later obtained a Master's degree in Public Administration from the Russian State Academy of Management in 1998.

Molchanov founded the LSR Group in 1993, starting in the construction industry. Over the years, the company evolved into one of the largest real estate development, construction, and building materials companies in Russia. Molchanov's strategic vision was key to LSR Group's growth, including its expansion in the real estate market. In 2007, the company went public, solidifying its position in the industry.

A key strategy of Molchanov was the expansion of the LSR Group by acquiring companies. Molchanov was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of LSR Group from April 2013 to April 2015, and held the position of CEO of LSR Group and LSR LLC since May 18, 2015.
