Ana Lucia de Mattos Barretto Villela was born in São Paulo, Brazil, on October 25, 1973. She is a member of a prominent banking family. Her great-grandfather founded the bank Itaú. In 1982, after the death of her parents in a plane crash, she and her brother, Alfredo, were raised by their aunt and uncle.
