Amy E. Wyss was born in Boulder, Colorado, on May 20, 1971. She is the daughter of Hansjörg Wyss, a Swiss billionaire and founder of the Wyss Foundation. Growing up in an affluent environment, Amy had access to quality education and opportunities. She graduated from Skidmore College with a bachelor's degree in history and government.
Rise to Success
Amy Wyss's career includes serving on the board of directors of Synthes, the largest manufacturer of implants to mend bone fractures, from 2008 to 2012. Synthes was founded by her father, Hansjörg Wyss. Johnson & Johnson acquired Synthes in 2012 for $19.7 billion. Amy Wyss received a portion of the proceeds from the sale.

Amy Wyss co-founded the Twirl Toy Store in Taos, New Mexico. She was also a co-founder of the Golden Willows Retreat, a bereavement center in Arroyo Hondo, New Mexico.

Wyss is actively involved in philanthropy. She served on the board of trustees of the National Outdoor Leadership School and the Wyss Foundation.
