Early Life
Aloke Lohia was born on November 27, 1958, in Kolkata, India. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Delhi University. After beginning his career in the family textile business, he launched his first independent venture, Aurus Specialty Chemicals, in Thailand in 1988.
Rise to Success
Lohia founded Indorama Chemicals in 1988. In 1994, he started Thailand's first wool business under the name Indorama Holdings. He expanded into PET production in 1995 by establishing Thailand's first such facility, transforming Indorama Ventures into a global petrochemical powerhouse. Indorama Ventures became a public company on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 2010.
