Early Life
Alfredo Egydio Arruda Villela Filho was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1969. He is a member of one of Brazil's oldest banking families, his great-grandfather founded the bank Itau. Tragically, his parents died in a plane crash in 1982 when he was 12 years old. He and his sister, Ana Lúcia, were raised by their aunt, Maria de Lourdes Egydio Villela.
Rise to Success
Alfredo graduated from Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1992. He later earned an MBA from Fundação Getulio Vargas. He is the largest individual shareholder of Itausa, the bank's holding company. He currently serves as Itausa's executive vice president. He has held board positions in various companies, including Duratex.

Alfredo's career has been closely linked with Itausa's strategic decisions. He has been involved in the restructuring of Itausa and the merger of Itaú with Unibanco in 2008. His involvement in the merger of Duratex with Satipel in 2009 highlights his role in key business moves.
Philanthropy
Alfredo Egydio Arruda Villela Filho, along with his sister Ana Lúcia, created the Instituto Alana in 1994. The institute supports activities in the areas of education, health, and culture for underprivileged communities.
