Early Life
Alexander Ivanovich Skorobogatko was born on September 15, 1967, in Horlivka, Ukraine, then part of the Soviet Union. His father was a miner, and his mother worked as a salesclerk. Skorobogatko displayed leadership qualities early on and was involved in sports, including judo and sambo. He graduated from Slavyansk State Pedagogical Institute in 1994 with a degree in physical education.
Rise to Success
Skorobogatko's business journey started in the late 1980s with ventures in Crimea, including perfume manufacturing and the sale of building materials. He co-founded the Russian General Bank in Moscow in 1996. Following the 1998 financial crisis, Skorobogatko and his partner, Alexander Ponomarenko, acquired stakes in stevedoring companies, which led to the creation of the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (NCSP) in 2006. NCSP went public in 2007, resulting in substantial gains for Skorobogatko. In 2013, Skorobogatko, Ponomarenko, and Arkady Rotenberg won a tender to develop Sheremetyevo International Airport.
