Early Life
Alexander Knauf was born in 1974. He pursued studies in business administration at the University of Passau (1996-1998) and later obtained a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics (1998-2000). His educational background provided a strong foundation for his future career in the family business.
Rise to Success
After completing his master's degree, Alexander Knauf began his career as a consultant for Roland Berger GmbH. He then worked for the United States Gypsum Corporation in Chicago. In 2004, he joined the Knauf Group, taking over the group management for the Northern Europe region. He later oversaw Central Europe from 2012 until January 2013, when he was appointed General Partner. Since January 2022, he has served as Speaker of the General Partners, a leadership role within the Knauf Group.

Knauf's strategies focus on expanding the company's global footprint and diversifying its product offerings. Key initiatives include the acquisition of USG Corporation in 2019, and increasing ownership in the Japanese drywall manufacturer Chiyoda Ute in 2022.
