Early Life
Alexander Evnevich was born on July 5, 1959, and spent his childhood in Beshenkovichi, Belarus. He graduated from the Mathematics and Mechanics faculty of the Leningrad State University (now St. Petersburg State University) in 1981.
Rise to Success
From 1981 to 1994, Evnevich worked at the All-Union research institute of hydraulic engineering of B.E. Vedeneyev, holding various positions including engineer and Deputy General Manager for Economics. In 1994, he co-founded Orimi Trade, which became a major player in the Russian tea market. The company's tea brands, such as "Princess Kandy" and "Greenfield", gained significant market share.
Key Business Strategies
Evnevich's business strategy involved building a strong presence in the Russian tea market. Orimi Trade became the leader in the Russian tea market by 1999. His family also controls Maxidom, a large Russian DIY retailer that acquired the Russian subsidiary of Castorama in 2020.
Philanthropy
Evnevich supports the mathematical Fund of Leonard Euler created at St. Petersburg State University.
