Early Life and Education
Alexander Evnevich was born on July 5, 1959, in the Vitebsk region of Belarus. He spent his childhood in Beshenkovichi, where he attended a correspondence mathematical school. In 1976, he moved to Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). He graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics at Leningrad State University (now St. Petersburg State University) in 1981.
Rise to Success
From 1981 to 1994, Evnevich worked at the Vedeneev All-Union Research Institute for Engineering Hydraulic Equipment, holding positions from engineer to Deputy General Manager for Economics. In 1994, he co-founded Orimi Trade, which would become a major tea and coffee supplier in Russia. By 1997, Orimi Trade controlled 10% of the market, and in 1999, it launched its own tea packaging production. In 1996, Evnevich co-founded Maxidom, a retail chain specializing in home goods. He became the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maxidom in 1997 and the CEO of Orimi Trade in 1998. He is also the main owner of Integrated Capital Bank, since 2011.
Key Business Strategies
Evnevich's success is largely attributed to his strategic diversification and vertical integration within the tea and retail sectors. At Orimi Trade, the company focused on wholesale trade initially before establishing its own production facilities. At Maxidom, Evnevich and his colleagues established a large retail network, expanding its presence in the home improvement market. In 2023, Evnevich's daughter, Maria, took over the management of Maxidom.
Philanthropy
Evnevich supports the Leonhard Euler Charitable Foundation for Mathematics affiliated with St. Petersburg State University. He has also participated in charitable events, including auctions where he purchased valuable artwork.
