Early Life
Alejandro Baillères Gual was born in Mexico City in May 1960. He is the son of Alberto Baillères González, a prominent Mexican industrialist known for expanding the family's business into the major conglomerate, Grupo BAL. His grandfather, Raúl Baillères, founded key companies in the early 20th century that formed the basis of the family's industrial activities, including ventures in metals extraction. Alejandro earned a business degree from the American College of Switzerland in 1982 and completed an executive program at Stanford Business School in 2000.
Rise to Success
Baillères joined the family business in 1989, serving on the board of directors of Industrias Peñoles, and later as CEO of Grupo Nacional Provincial. He became chairman of Grupo BAL in 2021. Under his leadership, Grupo BAL controls key subsidiaries, including a stake in Industrias Peñoles, the world's largest producer of refined silver, a stake in Fresnillo plc, and the luxury department store chain Grupo Palacio de Hierro. Baillères has played a key role in the success of Peñoles and Grupo BAL as a director.

He has overseen Grupo BAL's investments in the mining sector, including Industrias Peñoles and Fresnillo plc, while also expanding the retail presence through El Palacio de Hierro. Philanthropy
Baillères is committed to education and philanthropy. Since 2022, he has presided over the Board of Governors of the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
