Formation of Bay Grove and Lineage
In 2008, Forste co-founded Bay Grove with Kevin Marchetti. Bay Grove's focus is building platform companies and identifying the cold storage industry as ideal for investment. Together, they formed Lineage, which has become the world's largest temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics REIT. Lineage went public in July 2024, raising nearly $5 billion in its IPO.
Key Business Strategies
Forste and his team identified the cold storage sector as durable, fragmented, and underappreciated. Their strategy included acquiring existing warehouses and building new facilities, growing the company through over 120 acquisitions and more than 40 new builds. Lineage emphasizes operational efficiency, flexibility, and network solutions, providing significant value to its customers. Forste oversees Lineage Ventures, which focuses on identifying emerging technologies in the global food supply chain.
