After graduating, Yu began his career as an engineer at Inspur Group (formerly Langchao), a major Chinese tech conglomerate. In 1998, Yu founded Beijing Huaqing Xingchang Science and Trade Co., Ltd., recognizing the potential in the distribution of electronic components.
