Early Life
R.G. Chandramogan was born in Thiruthangal, Tamil Nadu, India. His family faced financial constraints, leading him to drop out of college. This challenging beginning fueled his determination to succeed in business.
Rise to Success
At 21, Chandramogan started Arun Ice Creams with a small capital of Rs 13,000. He rented a 250 sq ft space and employed a few workers. He innovatively distributed his ice creams using pushcarts and later, by packing them with ice and sending them on trains, overcoming the lack of cold storage. This strategy allowed him to reach rural markets effectively. The business grew rapidly, and by 1985, Arun Ice Creams became the largest ice cream seller in Tamil Nadu by volume. In 1986, Chandramogan renamed his company to Hatsun Agro Product.

Chandramogan's success is attributed to several key strategies. He focused on providing high-quality ice cream at affordable prices. By sourcing milk directly from farmers, he ensured a consistent supply of quality milk and empowered the farmers by offering fair prices. He also expanded his product line and distribution network, reaching both urban and rural consumers. Hatsun Agro also invested in modern technology for processing and logistics. The expansion into liquid milk marketing with the brand Arokya was also a key strategy for growth.
