Early Life and Education
Pyotr Olegovich Aven was born in Moscow on March 16, 1955. He attended Moscow State University, graduating in 1977, and later obtained a Ph.D. in Economics in 1980. His father was a professor of computer science, and his mother was from a Jewish family. Aven's academic background provided a strong foundation for his future career in finance and economics.
Rise to Success
Aven's career began with a senior researcher position at the All-Union Institute for Systems Studies at the USSR Academy of Sciences. He then served as the Minister of Foreign Economic Relations for the Russian Federation from 1991 to 1992. In 1994, Aven met Mikhail Fridman, and soon became a shareholder of Alfa-Bank. From 1994 to 2011, he served as the president of Alfa-Bank Russia. In 2013, Aven joined the Board of LetterOne Group, contributing to its expansion into telecoms, technology, and energy sectors.
