Early Life
Larry Robbins was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois, in 1969, to a Jewish family. He demonstrated academic excellence early on. Robbins graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 with a B.S. in Economics and a B.S. in Engineering, from the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology. He also became a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois in 1991. During his time at university, Robbins was captain of the University of Pennsylvania club hockey team for three years.
Rise to Success
Robbins's investment career began at Gleacher & Company, a merger and advisory boutique in New York. He then joined Leon Cooperman at Omega Advisors, where he served as an analyst and partner for six years. In 2000, he founded Glenview Capital Management. The firm's investment strategy focuses on deep fundamental research and a long-term approach. A successful bet on hospital companies benefiting from the implementation of Obamacare in 2012 was a significant achievement. In 2014, Robbins reportedly earned $570 million.

Through the Robbins Family Foundation, he supports education reform initiatives. He is also the Senior Chair of the Wall Street Division of the UJA-Federation.
