Griffin Perry was born in West Texas and attended Austin High School. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with degrees in economics and history. He also attended the London School of Economics.

Perry's career began in finance, working as a financial advisor at UBS and Deutsche Bank from 2007 to 2012. During this time, he helped grow assets under management. He then became the President of Caddis Energy, an oil and gas investment company. Perry is a Co-Founder and Managing Director at Grey Rock Investment Partners.
