Kozovoy's career began in 1970, working as an underground electrician at Mine No. 3 of the Cheremkhovougol trust. In 1991, he became the acting chairman of the supervisory board of Raspadskaya Ltd. In 1993, he became the CEO of Raspadskaya Ltd, a key moment in his career.
