Early Life and Education
Doug Ostrover was born in New York City. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business.
Rise to Success
Ostrover began his career at E.F. Hutton, where he was introduced to high-yield credit. He then joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) in 1992, becoming a key figure in their high-yield team. In 2000, when Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) acquired DLJ, Ostrover became a Managing Director and Chairman of the Leveraged Finance Group. In 2005, he co-founded GSO Capital Partners, Blackstone's alternative credit platform, where he was a Senior Managing Director until 2015.
Ostrover co-founded Owl Rock Capital Partners in 2016, which merged with Dyal Capital to form Blue Owl Capital. Blue Owl went public in 2021 and has grown rapidly, managing over $200 billion in assets. Ostrover has built a reputation for his ability to navigate the complexities of private credit markets.
