Early Life
Aristotelis Mistakidis, often known as Telis, was born in Rome, Italy, in 1962. His father was a marine biologist who worked for the United Nations. He holds dual Greek and British citizenship. He received his education at the London School of Economics.
Rise to Success
Mistakidis began his career trading non-ferrous metals at Cargill for six years. In 1993, he joined Marc Rich & Co., which later became Glencore. His career flourished within Glencore, where he became co-director of the zinc, copper, and lead department in 2000. He became a billionaire with the Glencore IPO in May 2011, owning a 3% stake in the company. Mistakidis retired as Glencore's head of copper marketing in December 2018.

Mistakidis's success is attributed to his expertise in commodity trading, particularly in the copper market, and his strategic vision in expanding Glencore's mining operations. He has demonstrated a keen ability to navigate complex market dynamics, which has been critical to Glencore's growth and profitability. After leaving Glencore, he has focused on investments, notably acquiring a majority stake in Aegean Baltic Bank (ABBank) in 2024.
Philanthropy
Mistakidis is involved in philanthropic endeavors, particularly in Greece. He has agreed to fund the new stadium for PAOK F.C.. Also, in 2021, he invested in Greece's second-largest bank, Piraeus Bank.
