Early Life and Education
Analjit Singh was born on January 11, 1954, in New Delhi. He is the son of Bhai Mohan Singh, the founder of Ranbaxy Laboratories. Singh received his early education at The Doon School in Dehradun and later studied economics at Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. He furthered his education with an MBA from Boston University.
Rise to Success
Singh's entrepreneurial journey began with Max India, which he founded in 1985. He built the Max Group into a diversified conglomerate with interests in healthcare, insurance, and real estate. Singh sold his stake in Hutchison Max in 1998 to Li Ka-shing, which helped him build the Max India Group. He has been the Non-Executive Chairman of Vodafone India from 2012 to 2018.
Key Business Strategies
Singh's strategies include strategic joint ventures and a focus on service excellence. He partnered with New York Life Insurance Company to build his life insurance business. The Max Group has collaborated with several leading firms, including Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance and Bupa Plc. He also invested in South Africa, where he owns a vineyard and boutique resorts.
